How to get there: Drive on the
AL-1004 to San José. Continue from the first roundabout some 60 meters
uphill straight ahead and turn right towards Genoveses and Monsul
according to the signposts. Drive 1.3 km and turn right again towards
"Playas de Las Genoveses" and Playa de Monsul". Some 300
meters further you encounter a signpost "Campillo del
Genovés" and an information panel on the route. (Roadmap)

| By the information panel, you find a track
with white arrows (40 m). Lined by agaves and
cactuses the track bends
left and opens up a view to the sea. Sierra
del Gabo de Gata rises on your right. At the first crossroads (10min) (5 m)and also at the second (14min) (-5 m), go straight ahead. The route
approaches the beach
of Genoveses. When you meet
another track (18min) (5 m), do not cross it, but keep right and make
for the parking place. By the parking place
(21min) (5 m), continue on the track that bends left. When the track forks (37min) (10 m), go right. In a minute, you come to a junction. Make for the Morrón de los Genoveses rising on your left. On your way, you enjoy beautiful views to the bay of Genoveses and to the open sea. The top (46min) (75 m) affords a splendid panorama of the coast line with capes and villages. Return to the junction (54min) (15 m) and continue straight ahead. The path ascends to the crest of the cliff (56min) (40 m) and continues to the right accompanied by gorgeous seaviews. When a path marked with piles of stones forks off left (1h06min) (60 m), you can visit an outer cliff, but the route continues straight ahead. When the path becomes unclear (1h26min) (75 m), descend to a path that runs some 15 meters below (1h29min) (60 m) and continue to the left. Sierra del Gabo de Gata stands now in front of you. The path goes gently downhill through an agave woods to a wide sand trail (1h35min) (45 m). Follow it to the right. The trail turns into a path that takes you to a track starting by two white buildings (1h39min) (20 m). Walk along the track to a sand road (1h43min) (25 m), turn right, and take the path by the road. A track forks off to the right (1h49min) (25 m) and turns into a path. Los Frailes emerge in front of you. Follow this path through fields to a track, and turn left to the parking place (2h01min) (5 m). Return along the familiar track back to the beginning of the route (2h24min). |
