How to get there: Drive on the
CV-610 to Genovés. Find the outermost street running from northeast to
southwest on the eastern side of Genovés. (Roadmap of Costera) Distance: 2h20min/9km |
| Start by the northeastern end of the street by
the house number 42. Take a couple of steps uphill towards the Serra de
la Creu and turn left (135 m). This narrow asphalt road
lined by orange
groves comes to CV-610
(13min) (175 m). Turn right. After some 150 meters, the CV-575 turns to left.
By this junction, on the left hand side of CV-610, you see a sign for
the Ampla path (Senda Ampla).
Higher up, the path
opens a nice view to the Costera valley with Genovés
and Xativa behind you.
When you come to signposts (40min) (290 m), turn right uphill to "Pla de Benavent". From the Benavent plain (50min) (410 m) the path descends back to CV-610 (1h10min) (240 m). On the opposite side of the road you find a sand road with a signpost "Senda Andalusa". Start walking on the road towards Collado del Manzano. At the fork (1h12min), go left. Soon you see the Benavent plain behind you and the hill of Creu (Serra de la Creu) on your right. When you reach the ridge (1h37min) (355 m), turn right to the Serra la Creu path. Go right for some 20 metres and take the path left downhill along the gorge of Llop (Barranco del Llop). In front of you rises the fortress of Xativa. When the path meets a track (2h04min) (205 m), go sharp right uphill to "Pino Grande", which is the shortest way back to Genovés. Be sure not to take the track which first dips down a little bit and runs almost parallel to the uphill track. There is also a sign to the left for Penya Blanca path. Going left would offer you two alternative routes. One goes back to Genovés via the Alboy fountain, but from the fountain you have to walk some two kilometers on an asphalt road. The other climbs away from Genovés to a small chapel (Ermita de la Solana), which, however, is private and surrounded by a fence. Soon the track starts to descend and comes to an asphalt road (2h10min) (180 m). Turn right, ignore all side roads, and walk to the southern side of Genovés (2h20min). From here it takes less than five minutes to walk back to the starting point. |
