How to get there: Drive on the A-372 to the recreation area of Llanos del Campo by the kilometre post K37. (Roadmap)

Distance: 5h20min/18.4km

Walk through the gate in the parking place of Llanos del Campo to a path (635 m). You see an information panel "Sendero del Tesorillo" on the slope. By the panel you go through another gate (2min) (645 m) and continue along a path uphill to the left into a cork tree forest. After passing ruins of a house (8min) (685 m) fork up right (10min) (690 m). The path becomes less clear and bends right (17min) (725 m) to another path (18min) (735 m). Turn left. You come to the A-372 (28min) (770 m) and follow it downhill to the right till you find a path branching off left (39min) (720 m).

The path goes through a gate and bends left. At the first fork (42min) (715 m) and at the second fork (49min) (715 m) you go left. Straight after the second fork, you branch off right. At the junction of paths (52min) (710 m) you turn right. At the next fork (55min) (705 m), you start the descent to the left. Later you begin to follow an old stonewall (1h05min). Lined by the wall the path leads towards a valley that you see first on your right. You walk through a gate (1h25min) (515 m), cross a river (1h30min) (490 m), and come through another gate to a narrow sand road (1h34min) (485 m).

When this beautiful road forks (1h38min) (485 m), go right. Lined by olive trees the road snakes its way downhill through a gate (1h55min) (460 m). Soon after crossing a bridge (2h03min) (390 m) you branch off right to a grassy track (2h05min) (390 m), that bends sharp right. Go through a gate and follow the track through another gate to a fork straight behind the gate (2h11min) (395 m). Go left uphill.

The track opens up fantastic views over the rolling valleys dotted with old olive and oak trees. Once you reach the top (2h30min) (510 m) you see a number of mountain ranges beyond the valley in front of you and the first glimpse of the Castle of Aznalmara. Descending along the track shaded by cork trees the castle appears in front of you.

You emerge into a large green field (2h40min) (425 m). Ignore the track in front of you. In the middle of the field surrounded by the Sierra del Pinar and the Puerto del Boyarin rises a rockwall on top of which you see the castle. The climb to the castle takes some ten minutes.

Return on the same way back to the Llanos del Campo (5h20min).
