How to get there: Driving on the N-621 turn on a narrow asphalt road signposted to Cuñaba and San Estebán between the kilometre posts 167 and 168. After 2.6 km the road forks. Continue right for Cuñaba. You reach the village 3.6 km further on, and find a parking place by the fountain. (Roadmap)

Distance: 1h30min/4km

Start out at the fountain by taking the street that goes downhill to the right leaving the bar on your left (375 m). The lane comes to a junction (3min) (365 m), turn down right. Almost at once you see a signpost. Follow the white-yellow waymarks along the track through the valley. Looking ahead you see gray cliffs dotted with oaks. Ignore the track that joins in from left behind (15min) (290 m). After passing a cemetery on your left, the track leads to a beautiful forest.

By a stone cottage (21min) (255 m) starts a charming grassy trail in zigzag downhill. Along the way you enjoy fine views to the gorge of Hermida (Desfiladero de la Hermida) with sheer rock walls, covered with the bright colours of oaks and maples in the autumn, and the river Deva flowing on its bottom. Lined by chestnut and fig trees the trail snakes its way down to the N-621 (40min) (70 m). Return on the same way back to Cuñaba (1t40min).
