How to get there: Drive on the AS-264 to Poncebos, where you find a sign for the "Funicular de Bulnes" between the kilometre posts K6 and K7. At this point the road forks. Continue uphill on the CA-1 signposted to Tresviso. After 10 km, a sand road signposted to Aliva and Urriellu forks off right. When this road forks, follow the sign for "Invernales del Texu" to the right. You can start the walk from the Invernales del Texu, but most people drive some 4 km further to Canero. The road is in bad shape. (Roadmap)

Distance: 4h30min/14km

In Canero, you find a sign for "Bulnes and Vega Urriellu" (1120 m). Take the path by the sign to the Pass of Pandébano (15min) (1220 m), where you bend left. Soon you encounter a white-yellow waymark "PR-PNPE-21". The route is well signposted all along. In the pass you enjoy an extensive view to the rockwall of Amuesa, Pico Albo and the village of Sotres.

Ascending gently along the grassy slope, the path passes the herdsman's hut of Terenosa (Majada de La Terenosa) (27min) (1295 m) and continues above the stone cottages to the slope of Monte de la Varera. On your right spreads out a lovely grassland dotted with cottages lined by Peńa Main. Further down in the valley, you discern the village of Bulnes. In front of you rises the Naranjo de Bulnes.

Once you reach the Pass of Vallejo (Collado Vallejo) bordered by impressive boulders (1h05min) (1550 m), you see the entire rocktower of Naranjo de Bulnes. Continuing downhill you see a long stretch of the ongoing path that forms a lovely shape on the steep mountainside.

After the gentle ascent, starts a steep climb in zigzag along the slope of Jou Lluegu (1h24min) (1550 m) towards the Naranjo de Bulnes. During the ascent you can admire the rocklandscape of Las Salidas de Bulnes and the Sierra del Cuera by the sea.

The Refugio de Urriellu (2h20min) (1950 m) lies at the base of the Naranjo in the valley of Urriellu surrounded by Neveron de Urriellu and Torre de Pomelo.

Return the same way back to Canero (4h30min).
