In Canero, you find a sign for "Bulnes and
Vega Urriellu" (1120 m). Take the
path by the sign to the
Pass of Pandébano
(15min) (1220 m), where you bend left. Soon you encounter a white-yellow
waymark "PR-PNPE-21". The route is well signposted all along. In the
pass you enjoy an extensive view to the
Amuesa, Pico Albo and
village of Sotres.
Ascending gently along the grassy slope, the path passes the
herdsman's hut of Terenosa (Majada de La Terenosa) (27min) (1295 m) and
continues above the stone cottages to the slope of Monte de la Varera.
On your right spreads out a lovely
grassland dotted with
Further down in the valley, you discern the village of Bulnes. In front
of you rises the Naranjo de Bulnes.
Once you reach the
Pass of Vallejo (Collado
Vallejo) bordered by impressive boulders (1h05min) (1550 m), you see the
of Naranjo de Bulnes. Continuing
downhill you see a long stretch of the ongoing path that
forms a lovely shape on the steep mountainside.
After the gentle ascent, starts a steep climb in
zigzag along the
slope of Jou Lluegu (1h24min) (1550 m) towards the Naranjo de Bulnes.
During the ascent you can admire the rocklandscape of
Las Salidas de Bulnes
and the Sierra del
Cuera by the sea.
The Refugio de Urriellu (2h20min) (1950 m) lies at the base of the
Naranjo in the valley of Urriellu surrounded by
Torre de Pomelo.
Return the same way back to Canero (4h30min).
