How to get there: Driving on the
A-326 from Castril towards Huéscar turn left after some 4 km, between
the kilometre posts 28 and 29, on a narrow asphalt road signposted to
"Parque Natural Sierra de Castril" and "Nacimiento del
Río". When the road forks some 400 metres further, keep right. It
turns into a sand road after 1.3 km from the junction. Drive on this
road altogether 8.3 km until you see an information panel on the walking
route "Cerrada de la Magdalena" on your left. (Roadmap)

| By the panel (1025 m) starts a track
that leads gently uphill following first the Castril
river. A wooden pole guides you left on a path
(6min) (1050 m). You have a nice view to the river
valley and rock
walls rising behind it. The path leads to a lookout spot (13min)
(1080 m). Morra Pino Seco and Picón de la Tía Ramona are the peaks
closest to you.
You cross a couple of gorges and continue through a beuatiful pine forest towards the reddish rocks. Cerrada de la Magdalena (23min) (1095 m) is an impasse closed by sheer walls. The waterfall forms a large bond where the path ends and continues down along the gorge. Return the same way back to the beginning of the route (45min). |
