From the parking place (1250 m) walk ahead on the road. After the last houses the road turns into a
track (9min) (1270 m) leading to the right through
meadows. The narrow
valley of Lago
is lined by the rock walls of
the Sierra de la Villa on your left. On the right side the
slopes are covered by a thick-growing
beech forest.
Ignore a track branching off left.
When you reach a fork with signposts (28min) (1310 m), follow the sign for "Lago del
Valle" to the right. Soon the Valle river starts to flow near the track.
Ignore a track to the right over a bridge (31min) (1310 m). At the next
fork (41min) (1345 m), go left for "Lago del Valle" (41min) (1345 m).
Later you enjoy fine views over the entire valley. Traditional
cottages
with hay roofs dot the landscape. On your right rises the
Sierra de
la Mortera.
The track leads to the Lake of Valle lined by a rock wall (1h20min)
(1570 m). Follow the rock wall to the left along a path. Before long the
path turns into a
track
that ascends to the cottage of Cobrana. Descend
from the cottages to a
path that runs by the water front. When the water
is high, the path going round the
lake is in some places under the water.
The path takes you to a sheer rock wall dipping down into the water
(1h50min) (1570 m). At this point, climb along the grassy
slope to a
crest (1h55min) (1610 m), where you enjoy a nice view over the
lake. From the
crest starts a clear path that slopes
down to another path (2h02min) (1570 m). Turn left.
Later you see a canal under the path paved with stone plates. When
the path forks (2h16min) (1575 m), go left uphill away from the canal.
The path leads to a lookout spot
(2h19min) (1590 m) with lovely views...
The path keeps ascending still a while to a crest (2h22min) (1610 m),
from which you see a
track down below. Descend along the path to the
track (2h31min) (1580 m), and turn right. The track snakes its way to a
beech forest (2h41min) (1500 m) and goes by a
water fall
(2h53min) (1420
m).
After crossing the Valle river (3h) (1370 m) you come to the familiar
fork (3h07min) (1345 m) from which you continue along the familiar way
back to Valle del Lago (3h45min).
